Contrahist Allergy 5mg, 10 tablets - allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria

Indications: Contrahist Allergy is indicated in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age for the treatment of symptoms associated with: allergic rhinitis (including chronic allergic rhinitis), chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Action: The active substance of Contrahist Allergy is levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Contrahist Allergy is an anti-allergy medicine.

Dosage:do not use the drug for more than 10 days without consulting your doctor. If there is no improvement or if the patient feels worse after 3 days of starting treatment, a doctor should be consulted. The recommended dose for adults and children aged 6 years and over is 1 tablet (5mg) daily. In patients with impaired kidney function, the dose may need to be reduced depending on the severity of the kidney disease. Patients who have both liver and kidney problems may need a lower dose depending on the severity of their kidney disease. In children with both hepatic and renal impairment, the dose should also be adjusted according to body weight. In such cases, the dose should be determined by the doctor. Contrahist Allergy tablets are not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water. The drug can be taken with or without food.

Composition: 1 tablet contains: active substance: levocetirizine dihydrochloride 5mg (equivalent to 4.2mg of levocetirizine). Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose (type 102), lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 400.

Contraindications: you are allergic (hypersensitive) to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, an anti-allergic medicine or any of the other ingredients of Contrahist Allergy; severe renal impairment (severe renal failure with a creatinine clearance of less than 10ml/min); hereditary galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Warnings and precautions: if you have kidney problems, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine; a lower dose may be needed. Your doctor will determine the dose. If you may have difficulty urinating (eg due to spinal cord injury or enlarged prostate gland), please consult your doctor. Contrahist Allergy may alter the results of allergy skin tests. If your doctor orders such tests, stop taking Contrahist Allergy 3 days before having them. Contrahist Allergy contains lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

Interactions with other medicines: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription, and the medicines you plan to take. Caution should be exercised if Contrahist Allergy is taken with alcohol. In susceptible patients, concomitant administration of cetirizine or levocetirizine with alcohol or other centrally acting agents may affect central nervous system function, although cetirizine racemate has been shown not to potentiate the effects of alcohol.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines: Some patients treated with Contrahist Allergy may experience drowsiness, tiredness and weakness. If you are going to drive, engage in potentially hazardous activities or operate machinery, you should know how you react to the medicine beforehand. Special tests conducted in healthy volunteers after taking levocetirizine at the recommended dose did not show any effects of the drug on attention, the ability to react or the ability to drive.
