Cet arbuste de la famille des rosacées est la plante du cœur. Le bourgeon d'aubépine possède à la fois les propriétés de la fleur (rythme cardiaque, tension) et du fruit (muscle cardiaque), ce qui illustre bien le fait que le bourgeon contient tout le génie du végétal dont il est issu.
Au niveau circulatoire, le bourgeon d'aubépine présente une action antiscléreuse artérielle et agit comme draineur du cœur. Grand remède des arythmies fonctionnelles (extrasystoles, tachycardies angoissantes), l'aubépine est ambivalente puisqu'elle normalise la tension que ce soit au départ d'une hypo ou d'une hypertension. Le macérat possède une action inotrope et chronotrope positive.
